No Coasting in the Faith

Updated: Jun 4

Fresh from reflection, prayer, and meditating on the Word, this post is a reminder and a realignment.

There is no coasting in the faith.

No auto-pilot.

No passivity.

No spiritual cruise control.

We are called to be:

Intentional. Guarded. Aware. Watchful. Prayerful. Content. Bold. Wise. Kind. Trustworthy. Patient. And above all—to endure.

📖 1 Thessalonians 5:12–22  brings powerful instruction, but a few key points gripped me:

Be Patient Toward All Men

Not just the kind ones. Not just the easy ones. This means exercising spiritual maturity—meeting people where they are, applying truth with grace, speaking with meekness when needed, and not taking things personally. It’s not about accepting abuse, but walking in discernment, knowing when to draw boundaries—not from bitterness, but from righteous balance.

Esteem Spiritual Leadership

"…for their work’s sake…"

We’re instructed to honor those placed as spiritual shepherds and guards over our souls—not idolize, but respect.

They serve to correct, admonish, guide, and lead by example, helping us stay in truth.

Yes, we each must “work out our own salvation with fear and trembling,” but that doesn’t dismiss the importance of God-ordained covering.

Warn the Unruly

This isn’t about pride or self-righteousness. It's about rejecting the fear of man, and in love, warning brothers and sisters when they’re veering into willful sin, harmful habits, or spiritual danger.

This is love in action—reminding others of the standards of The Most High, not for

control, but for protection.

Comfort the Feebleminded. Support the Weak.

Life is fragile. The mind even more so.

We all face battles that test our faith and shake our foundation.

When one is under spiritual attack or weighed down, we’re to lift, not judge. Restore with gentleness.

📖 “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness...” —Galatians 6:1 (KJV)

Refrain from Vengeance

It’s not ours to repay, no matter how deep the wound.

Trust Yah with justice. Our role?

To follow after what is good—toward all men.

As my eldest son shared in a conversation that struck deeply—it sparked something in me. A declaration. An anthem:

“I’m not playing around…”

With my walk with Father Yah

With His mercy and grace

With seeking the Kingdom

With seeking His righteousness

With keeping His commandments

This walk of faith is a No Coasting Zone.

We walk it daily. Sober. Watchful. Rooted.

Because the road is narrow, but the reward? Eternal.

Reflection Prompt: Have you found yourself drifting lately? What reminders or scriptures anchor you back to walking with intention and reverence? Take a moment to journal your response, or share below if led.
